DBenki

DBenki is an African historian, cultural educator, and community organizer who has spent over 20 years bringing people together. Born in Jamaica, DBenki developed a passion for African history and culture. His initial source for this knowledge was listening to a radio show hosted by the famous dub poet Mutabaruka late at night on Wednesdays. This broadcast, Reggae music, along with conversations and reasonings held under an ackee tree, became DBenki's main source for self-knowledge, as the formal school curriculum was for the most part devoid of cultural education and general awareness.

After migrating to the United States, he sought to fill this void. He bought books and sought out the great Pan-African teachers in Harlem and the New York area. In 2004, he began studying with the Master Teacher Baba Heru Semaj. This mentorship inspired him to deeply research the Ancient Nile Valley Civilizations of Africa.

After his first cultural initiation program, he took the name "Royal," committing himself to the lifelong mission to learn, develop, and share a more complete story of the African Identity.

Today, DBenki functions as an advisor and strategic consultant. He uses the African-centered paradigm to help strengthen businesses and Organizations.
